01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

A chocolate sphere slowly melts, revealing what lies inside. Diners who tried Le Jardin in-house have noted the spectacle of watching it dissolve, along with the shifting flavours and textures as they eat. One visit featured shiso sorbet, pistachio cream and strawberries topped with strawberry liqueur; another diner particularly remembered the refreshing taste of shiso ice cream. It is a dessert to choose when you want to enjoy the presentation as much as the dish, finished in front of you.

For something to take away, the éclair is another option; reviews have singled out the texture of its pastry and the bittersweet taste of its caramel. The menu describes it as made with three kinds of sweet, bittersweet caramel cream, and it is available both to eat in and take away. The cake display also includes Assemblage B, layered with strawberries, milk chocolate, almond praline and white chocolate, and Tarte Chocolat, made with two kinds of chocolate. Choose between layers of chocolate and a tart, depending on the sort of treat you are after.

To accompany a cake or dessert, try Chocolat Froid, an iced chocolate drink made with the house's original chocolate blend. Hot tea is available in several varieties: Blue Tea, described as having a floral aroma; Darjeeling, a classic pairing for Western-style sweets; and Vanilla Caramel, with a sweet fragrance.

The menu also offers the option of a full meal, not just sweets. Pastry chef Akihiro Kakimoto draws on his experience to create a dinner course whose contents change according to the day's ingredients. It includes about 9–10 savoury dishes and 2–3 desserts. Whether you are stopping in for cake in the afternoon or looking for an evening meal that ends with dessert, there are different ways to enjoy the restaurant.
